The location is amazing, it's right by the station, not far from the famous river, the nearest conbini is also super close. Its the perfect place to be able to walk around Nagatoro and the nearby shrines and mountains so easily. The house itself is lovely, all of the inside is furnished so well and comfortable to stay in. The kitchen has everything you could need. And above all, the staff here were so welcoming and accommodating. If you get the chance please stay! First of all, the room itself is way larger than you would normally expect in Japan, so plenty of space if you have extra luggage. Plus plenty of amenities, free parking, and helpful (as well as English speaking) staff. The hotel is also located on a large hill overlooking Chichibu, and the view from the room (especially if you can get one on the upper floors) is simply amazing! Better still, you get a very nice traditional Japanese bathroom, that borders on a private onsen, with a large window right next to the bath. I have no complaints about the communal onsen, but if you want a proper onsen experience, there are better places to stay. HOWEVER, wait until nightfall, and prepare a bath in your own room, and then you can relax in the hot water whilst watching all the lights of pretty much the entirety of Chichibu - a view I daresay very few proper onsen hotels can offer, and which is truly spectacular!

Hajime, the owner, was super helpful and kind. We ordered dinner and breakfast and it was delicious. The guesthouse is a traditional, rustic, old-style Japanese house and it was exactly what I was looking for. The view from the room was absolutely gorgeous! I was on foot and walked from the station to the guesthouse- about 30 mins. There are a couple of places to eat nearby, by foot or bus - all delicious! I spent a couple of days walking in the mountains nearby. It was an amazing experience- very rustic, but that was exactly the type of place I was looking for. Thank you Hajime!
