Walking times: - 30 minutes to the airport - 25 minutes to the train station - 35 minutes to the centre Perfect apartment for my stay in a nice, quiet area. Friendly owner who invited me in for a drink to say hi. I found Poprad to be a great base for a week of hiking in the High Tatras. The electric trains run to all of the main trail heads (Strbske Pleso, Stary Smokovec) from very early in the morning. I also found the Dott e-scooters helpful for getting around Poprad (tip: they always have offers in app for 2 rides for 4 euro). There's a good range of restaurants in Poprad; burgers and beers, Vietnamese, pizza.

Poprad (1.6 miles from Poprad-Tatry Airport)
Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Apartmán Tatry-Poprad is situated in Poprad, 26 km from Strbske Pleso Lake and 32 km from Treetop Walk. Very bad experience, Avoid this place!!!! The owner was rude, nasty speaking to us from the first second she saw our family. She asked to took our shoes off on the cold floor, and we went up the stairs to see the room. Room was tiny, with very little storage and no any closet, very low ceiling -so you need to be careful every time you walk in to the bathroom and back. She asked us not to use to much electricity or water, because of high bills. When she asked our documents, she was rude and pure racist because I had a EU Slovakian ID but been born in Russia. She even asked me where I did get this document, and asked for another. And mention what she not interesting in “whom I gonna sleep with, Just give me the right ID she said-I was in shock holding my 3 years old I just was thinking to leave this place immediately…but we are traveled long road and wanted just to freshen up and rest. It was big mistake to stay where, every single day she was coming to our room ( with no our permission) and take all our electrical devices from the power socket. Open or close windows, move some of our private stuff around-but not to clean our room, we had no cleaning service planed. They have not have any heating in kitchen as well, so if you woke up in the snowy morning, and want to eat your breakfast, probably you need to put warm clothes on you, because temperature in kitchen its like in garage about 8-10 degrees less like in your room. Its not really comfortable if you have a child. We had to dress our girl, every time she wanted to go to kitchen. A bathroom was clean, like all apartment and is the only positive thing we had where. But lacking any storage space in the bathroom as well, I would advise to owner to put at least two hooks for towels or clothes near the shower cabinet and sink. After a heavy snow storm, our TV stop working, and she said what we are Brocken all the system in her digital TV and put this system on Ukrainian language….
Poprad (1.6 miles from Poprad-Tatry Airport)
Located in Poprad and only 25 km from Strbske Pleso Lake, Rekreačný dom Tyrkys provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. Everything was ok. Clean object. Nice place to stay. Big garden.
Belly slavkov is a small village with only a small supermarket, which has by the way very low prices. Apart from the resort and restaurant nothing of interest. The best is proximity to the Tatra mountains
A cozy town with a small central area which packs pretty nice restaurants and plenty of breweries. It can get somewhat sketchy during the night but we felt pretty safe around the center. Plenty of shops but they close early in some cases. I definitely recommend Dobre Casy brewery and Hodovna bistro. They both have a great staff and great offering. The proximity to the Hogh Tatras is great if you're travelling by car, which makes it great for those who are looking for hiking trails or winter sports resorts.
This is the village where my husband's grandfather lived most of his life until he was about 17/18 years old. We came to explore our family tree and ended up meeting about 19 family members during our 2 night stay in Batizovce. We also drove up to the High Tatras (just 30 minutes away) and walked around the lake at Strbske Pleso then enjoyed a lovely meal at the Grand Hotel Kempinski. Our only complaint was that there really isn't a fully operational restaurant in the village. We had to drive to Svit (which was only about 5 minutes away) but we would have preferred to walk somewhere. The village only has 9,500 residents so maybe they just don't have the numbers to have a restaurant that is open more than a few hours each day.
It's my 3rd stay in this place and I find it convenient. Either going for hikes or visit Poprad town there is no issues as there is a train that can bring you to any of those locations every hour. It's quiet place and perfect to relax and recover from daily mountain trips! Will definitely return there again!
We stayed in Poprad for just 1 night after a ski break in the Tatry mountains. Our flight was to/from the Poprad Tatry airport. We explored the town which was incredibly quiet (Monday afternoon). The Termy looked like it might have been good, but we had only been to another one the day before. If we had visited at a weekend or at a different time of year, we may have had a different experience.
We loved the size of room, very spacious. We appreciate the facilities, cleanliness, private bathroom, beautiful view of mountains through window as we were top floor on a right which was awesome. The beds were comfy. The room has everything you need. The owner was so lovely and helpful. The village is small and cute. The property got good spot, 5 min from airport and 30 mins to Tatrianska Polianka by train. Bus nearby as well. We definitely coming back.😃
