If “off the beaten track” is what you’re after, this is the place. It’s a farm run by a beautiful family who have a well appointed set up for visitors. We chose this location being somewhat close to Somawathiya National Park. Unfortunately, the National Park is not open to the public so instead we visited Somawathiya Chaitya. A great traditional breakfast is included and our hosts went above and beyond to help us in any way they could. BTW - their English is not good but adequate with the assistance of translation apps.

We had a great lunch, dinner and the next morning a very very big delicious breakfast. They showed us their mango tree and gave us a big mango to take with us :) lovely place and lovely people running it ❤️

The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. Perfect location for exploring Polonnaruwa’s ancient sites. Highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful and relaxing stay!

Located within less than 1 km of Gal Viharaya and a 17-minute walk of Polonnaruwa Vatadage in Polonnaruwa, River Nature Park offers accommodation with seating area. Our host Pradeep and his family were excellent hosts. Pradeep especially was very kind and attentive to our needs. He gave us very good advice about visiting Polonnaruwa and brought us rental bicycles, which were the perfect way to see the ancient city. It would be difficult to find an accommodation any closer to the city and, if you are traveling on a budget, this spot provides an outstanding value for the price. Pradeep’s wife cooked us some excellent meals and we found the place to be very well kept. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Lavendish Wild Safari features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a restaurant and bar in Wasgamuwa. Each accommodation at the 4-star hotel has pool views and free WiFi. Exception place, I loved everything, nearest town is 12km away so some may find it quiet but for me it was perfect. The staff were great, and the chef was able to cater for 2 dietary requirements. Food portions are huge and room large and comfortable. Swimming pool warm and clean, just wear t-shirt or wet suit top if a lady to be respectful. It was an amazing experience
