Shibu Onsen, Yamanouchi
Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations. This is a true Japanese cultural and cuisine experience that was the highlight of our holiday. The room with private Onsen and private bathroom was exceptional and much better than we imagined for a traditional Raikan and the Onsen experience was worth pushing our comfort zones for. The culinary offerings were incredible (even if many were not to our taste) they clearly pride themselves on perfection, symmetry and are proud of their cultural roots. Some of their dishes have been presented to the imperial household and wearing traditional clothing and private intimate dining you simply couldn’t ask for a truer traditional & cultural experience at the highest end. The Raikan bus to the snow monkeys is only a 5 minute drive and they ask for a small contribution to cover their costs. The private Onsen on the terrace was an absolute treat.
Yudanaka Onsen, Yamanouchi
A 3-minute walk from Yudanaka Station, Hotel Tsubakino features indoor and outdoor hot spring baths with a vista of snowy mountain peaks. The hotel offers Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi. Best hotel in our Japan trip! Room was enormous and beautiful. The onsen was very nice and they allow tattoos, which is a great plus! You can even book one space privately. The breakfast is traditional Japanese and it is so yummy. I cannot eat fish, and they accommodated my food request (you need to inform them in advance). I 100% recommend it and I would stay here again.
Shiga Highlands, Yamanouchi
New Yokote has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Yamanouchi. Japanese traditional absolutely loved it this is my third time staying there
Yamanouchi
Directly connected to the slopes of Okushiga Kogen Ski Resort and within a 1-minute walk from the Lift 1, Hotel Grand Phenix Okushiga provides a convenient ski-in/ski-out access. The lounge is absolutely the highlight, here the Grand Phenix shares three things with you: great local draft beer, a gentle Okushiga snowing view, and a warm firepit. This lounge is so special that you can wait for your dinner table (because of the tight reservation in Christmas season) there while drinking your drinks by a bonfire, this even makes waiting a wonderful experience...
Yudanaka Onsen, Yamanouchi
Located a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Hotel Housei offers free WiFi access, indoor/outdoor hot spring baths and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms. They were so accommodating. Our train arrival time was later than their dinner time, but still they made sure we were well fed.
Yamanouchi
Situated 3.9 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Hotel Omodaka offers 3-star accommodation in Yamanouchi and has an open-air bath. We spent a really wonderful time in this place. The staffs were really helpful, really friendly and welcoming. They took care of us extremely well. It almost felt like we're in our grandparents house. The room was super spacious and clean even though the place itself was quite old. The room also had this typical japanese low table to drink tea. If you want to dine in your room, it's only available for dinner. Dont forget to order before you come here bcs they dont accept impromptu food orders. We were offered breakfast for the day after since we couldn't have dinner there. And the best thing about this place is the onsen. They had 2 onsens for each place (man and woman). One indoor and one outdoor.
Yudanaka Onsen, Yamanouchi

Yamanouchi
Situated in Yamanouchi, 200 metres from Ryuoo Ski Park, T Hotel Ryuoo features accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a restaurant and ski-to-door access. The staff and services are exceptional! Gu san and Sugawara san went the extra mile to help us send our snowboards from hotel to airport and made sure that everything was in perfect order. The team is always responsive online to answer any enquiries so that our stay could be seamless! The room is very spacious and functional with an extended ski locker room attached to the hotel. We love it here :)
Shiga Highlands, Yamanouchi
Located in Yamanouchi, 19 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Hotel Sunny Shiga provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a restaurant and ski-to-door access. Location was great, just across the road for chairlift (you can’t possibly be any nearer) and 2 min walk to another chairlift that brings you up to connect to other ski fields We enjoyed the all inclusive, dinner for 5 days was not repeated for mains, some sides repeated overall meals while not fancy, they were tasty and you won’t go hungry. Bath was also great way to start and end the day. The staff is the best, smiling elderly aunties and front desk.
