The room was comfortable and a good size. The bathroom was functional and the shower had acceptable water pressure. The bed was very comfortable.
The staff was friendly and the check in area in the bar was nicely decorated. The location is reachable by bus or foot, and there are great food options nearby, of course including the attached restaurant. A great gelateria is only 3 minutes walk away.

A wonderful hotel in the city center, close to the train station. Excellent staff who are happy to help. The breakfast is wonderful and varied, not only sweets :) The staff allowed us to leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out, for which I thank them very much. The room was clean and cozy. There was a kettle and tea.

Amazing property, fabulous people and very good food
The arrival point of low-cost airlines and cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.
One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its pavement cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The next door Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.
Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by funicular railway.
A funicular also descends to the modern town – Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, and opposite is the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC play in a stadium to the north-east, while south-west is the train station from where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.
Booking.com offers several Bergamo hotels near the airport and the neighbouring Orio Centre shopping complex.

The old town is filled with places to eat and things to do. If you enjoy walking and sightseeing Bergamo is the place to go. Easy access to and from the airport made the trip so relaxing. We tried La Vita and several of the other restaurants up the hill they were all excellent.

Beautiful town, especially Alta.
Beautiful town, especially Alta. We found this location great for using public transport. We took the train to Milan on one day and a train to Lake Garda another day. The people are friendly and lots of choice for food and drinks.

Although I have been to Bergamo 24 years ago, I don't remember it being so beautiful and interesting. The Architecture is amazing, with beautiful, grand buildings almost everywhere you look in the city centre and so clean and attended to. Wonderful variety of cafes and restaurants along the main street, with a very effective, regular bus timetable which we used every day to get to and from Citta Alta where we stayed. The train station had regular trains that took us to Milan 45 minutes away and also to the mountains and lakes. Bergamo Citta Alta is also beautiful with many buses going to and fro every 10 / 15 minutes from the city. Food and service in both areas are really very good and although the staff appreciated my Italian attempts, most spoke English. Food and travel were also good value. Recommend train ride to Varenna on Lake Como, absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go to Bergamo again.

It may just have been the time of year we went (April) but very few restaurants in our immediate area stayed open late. We arrived at one at 9.20pm to be told that they were shortly closing the kitchen! By the time we got to another we were told we would have to chose quickly what we wanted to eat as they were closing soon. So we felt quite rushed to choose and eat. We ate at Vox restaurant on 2 nights which was very nice and they stayed open late.
The nearest supermarket advertised as closing at 9pm but would not let us in for just one item at 8.45pm!
The area was ideal to use as a base to visit other areas; Milan, Lake Garda and Lake Como and also nearby Verona
Citta alta was lovely though although we only went there in the daytime so can't comment on places to eat an evening meal.

Beautiful new town with many shops and cafes.
Beautiful new town with many shops and cafes. And a very interesting old town with 12th-13th century architecture, narrow streets and beautiful churches. It sits on a high hill and has stunning views of the new town.
There are plenty of cafes and pizzerias where you can try delicious pizza and eat a delicious cake.
The hotel was a nice place to stay.
I do not say anything bad about Albergo900 in Bergamo.
Booking.com or the hotel might not post my review, that it is hard to trust hotels now after my horrible experience in dangerous AgriturismoGiroDiVento, Via Cerretino 3226, Sant'elpidio a mare, Marche, Italy, who have not compensated my awful stay there, for being rude, impolite, threatening my safety, the attitude of staff of AgriturismoGiroDiVento, in Via Cerretino 3226, towards international tourist cannot be justified and forgiven.
Location is just in the heart of citta alta, however, rooms are not looking at the busy street but across hereby it is quiet and one is able to relax.
Room is spacious, bed is comfortable and bathroom is bigger than what I have seen while travelling in Europe. Coffee machine in the room makes great espresso as you can expect for Italy. The ladies who work at the restaurant downstairs as well are super helpful and assist you with whatever is on your mind. Would definitely come back again when coming to Bergamo.
The room was very goog endoved and proportionad. The breakfast was wonderful, especially the real, over any other staying italian ristretto, the fried prosciutto, the croissants with italian cream and all. The location is very good: it is a 10 minutes walking from the train station, and also a 15 minutes walk from the telecabine used for transporting people in the alta citta- the old town. The bus nr.1 to the airport is a five minutes walk from the hotel.
AMAZING LOCATION right in the old city (città alta) - must be one of the most romantic towns in Italy with a bustling night life and amazing selection of good food/drink.
The room itself is also very comfortable and homely - beautiful old wooden floors and dresser. old fashioned in the best sense.
Great communication and friendliness from staff - compliments to Alexia!
The aircon was a saving grace at night as the natural ventilation is quite weak.
Our stay was great! We booked the hotel as we were flying from Bergamo the following morning and didn’t want to stay far from the airport. Beatrice let us leave our car at the hotel over the weekend and even drove us to the airport for our flight! She picked us up when we returned and took us back to the hotel, where our car was parked. We were very satisfied with the service and would like to thank Beatrice for her hospitality!
We had really good stay in Hotel Excelsior San Marco. It's easily accessible from train station and airport, in 10-20minutes you can get there by bus, from train station 15mins walking. Located just next to the Bergamo Alta, also 10-12mins walk. We got a room with Bergamo Alta view which was a nice add on. Good choice for breakfast, served as buffet. I would definitely recommend
By far the hotel with the best location in all of Bergamo. Located in the old town, it is a short walk from all the main sites. The BF is excellent and the staff polite and courteous. The rooms were spacious and although they don't have an evening turn down service, our requirements for extra water etc were attended to without fuss even later in the evenings.
Everything!!
The location, the hotel, the room, the staff - wow!
Danielle was so welcoming and friendly, explaining everything.
We had to go during the night, so they prepare us a breakfast box!
The rooms are clean and design beautifully.
Really, this place is a must when visit Bergamo (especially Citta Alta - the upper and old city).
Fantasic hotel to visit the Citta Alta of Bergamo. Very conveniently located, in a beautiful and relaxing surrounding. It feels like you're miles away from the city, but it is a 10-minute walk to get to the main entrance. There is also a beautiful detour through the forest to reach the top of the old city (which is on a hill).
The owner was very friendly, accurate to the appointment and so very helpful. The apartment was at the best spot it could be. Elegant, modern, spacious with excellent view. Alta Citta of Bergamo sums up history and culture, beauty and nostalgic flair. I highly recommend Casa Maria.
The hotel is ideally placed in the center of Bergamo, very close to streets with lots of stores and restaurants. Also the funicular to get to Citta Alta is a 10 minute walk away. The small surprises like chocolates on the bed and the welcoming cocktails were a nice touch.
The facilities are beautiful, and the hotel perfectly located in the heart of Bergamo old town. Everything was immaculately clean, and the breakfast was very enjoyable, offered in a cozy room on the ground floor. 10/10 recommended!
This residence is absolutely exceptional. It is the #1 place we have stayed at in Italy, or anywhere else actually! The man who designed, built and furnished it was the chief architect of Bergamo. It is a wonderful property.
A unique experience, especially for people loving books. A monk’s cellar like feeling with modern furniture. In the very heart of Bergamo’s old town (Citta Alta). Very nice, accessible and caring host.
The staff are excellent and really friendly.
The hotel is within walking distance to everything and only 15 minutes from the Airport.
We will definitely stay again the next time we're in Bergamo.
A gem of a small hotel. Unique rooms with excellent facilities even a mini bar, Ideally located for access to the old town and station. Highly recomended for a lovely break in Northern Italy
Excellent hotel in Bergamo. I really loved my room, very comfortable and with a little view to Citta Alta. I strongly recommend it. Location is great, in front of the train station.
Perfect location at piazza vechia, the heart of Bergamo Alta (old town, between walls on the hill top), parking lot 200m from hotel, friendly, helpful and smiling staff.
Great location in the very heart of Citta Alta: The Old historical Town of Bergamo!
Great hosts, cozy place and unbelievable experience: Strongly referred!!!
